By increasing its in house transport capacity, Biogen will have greater oversight of key routes and improved ability to plan, coordinate and respond to operational needs. This development reflects Biogen’s commitment to continuous improvement and will help maintain a dependable, high quality service for customers as demand for food waste recycling continues to grow.
The fleet is expected to transport around 40,000 tonnes of food waste each year, supporting the efficient movement of material from the London region through Biogen’s national AD network. Strengthening these internal connections enhances operational resilience and helps ensure a consistent supply of feedstock to Biogen’s facilities, enabling the continued production of renewable energy and biofertiliser.
This investment represents a further step in Biogen’s long term strategy to expand and optimise the systems that underpin its operations. By building greater capability within its own logistics network, Biogen is ensuring it remains well positioned to deliver reliable, high performing recycling services across the UK.
Biogen’s Commercial Director Luke Ford commented; “By purchasing our own trucks we feel we have elevated our value proposition by owning both the treatment and haulage element of the service we offer to our clients. This move is a prerequisite to operating CNG trucks powered by our food waste; something we’re keen to bring to the market in the very near future”.
