Biogen currently provides food waste treatment services to over 40 local authority customers across the UK. Our customers range from inner city London Boroughs to large Unitary Authorities, as well as rural districts. Our local authority experience covers England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands and manages over 150,000 tonnes per annum of local authority food waste, diverting this from landfill and incineration.

Biogen can offer a range of collection and delivery arrangements to work around individual local authority requirements. This includes direct deliveries into our Treatment Facilities for local authorities close to our sites, as well as direct deliveries into third party Transfer Stations, with Biogen managing onward haulage from these locations. Biogen also oversees arrangements for collection of food waste from local authority nominated Transfer Stations, providing collections from such locations to suit individual customer requirements.

Biogen prides itself on a customer-focused approach, which supports customer requirements and exceeds expectations. For local authority customers, this involves regular correspondence between Biogen and it’s customers through open-door, transparent communication. Biogen has regular meetings with all customers, ensuring services provided continue to meet their needs and to help drive continuous improvement. This is complemented by robust self-monitoring across all contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual Key Performance Indicators and ensuring local authorities – and their residents – benefit from the highest quality services at all times.

Performance against contract Key Performance Indicators is reported to local authorities monthly, enabling timely reporting for WasteDataFlow purposes. Reporting is complemented by our customer portal, which provides key tonnage and contract data in real-time, enabling local authorities to actively monitor performance and providing a proactive approach to service delivery.
