Biogen is delighted to be announced as the winner of the ‘Contribution to Tackling Net Zero’ at this year’s Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management.
Biogen, since it’s conception, has been producing renewable energy. Directly contributing to the decarbonisation of the UK’s national grid. Operating 19 Anaerobic Digestion (AD) facilities covering the length and breadth of the UK, from Inverness to Weston-super-Mare and from Caernarfon to Halstead, Biogen is the leading provider of food and organic waste treatment services in the UK. In just two decades, we have expanded rapidly to become the largest UK operator of AD facilities, with 19 sites, over 30 local authority partners and 178 staff, including eight apprentices.
Biogen are proud of our role at the forefront of the transition to a UK circular economy. Our experience has seen us engage with Defra, DESNZ, Letsrecycle.com, BBC News, ADBA and countless customers throughout 2024, helping drive better, more sustainable waste management and the UK’s Net Zero transition.
Biogen wants to do the right thing – by people and the planet. We never tire in our drive for continuous improvement, and in 2024 successfully became the first large AD provider to achieve ISO14064 accreditation, an international standard for quantifying and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, helping manage and reduce our carbon footprint.
