What we can recycle
BIOGEN is licensed by the Environment Agency (EA) to take a wide variety of different waste streams including those requiring regulated disposal, such as liquid food wastes, sludges, abattoir wastes and other animal by-products, and solid food matter.

These types of waste are produced by a variety of different sources, including food processing factories; e.g. wastage from production lines and on-site collection facilities, such as fat traps; retail outlets, catering businesses and final users - the latter being municipal biodegradable wastes collected from households by local authorities.
BIOGEN's integrated AD plants are equipped to deal with packaged as well as unpackaged food wastes. We also offer secure destruction for more sensitive applications.
The waste types acceptable by BIOGEN include wastes (including materials unsuitable for consumption or processing) from:
- the preparation and processing of meat, fish and other foods of animal origin
- fruit, vegetables, cereals, edible oils, cocoa, coffee, tea and tobacco preparation and processing; conserve production, molasses preparation and fermentation
- the dairy products industry
- the baking and confectionery industry
- the production of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages
In addition we can recycle Biodegradable Municipal Wastes (BMW) from household, commercial, industrial and institutional collections, including separately collected fractions e.g. biodegradable kitchen and canteen waste, edible oil and fats.
