BiogenGreenfinch take waste from all the UK food chain, from farm to table, and convert it into renewable energy and biofertiliser.

The answers we provide

The implementation of an anaerobic digestion plant on to a farm or estate is a proven method of developing a new revenue stream in agriculture across Europe and is a growing technology in the UK with numerous success stories.

An AD plant can significantly contribute to meeting the main concerns of most landowners however the implementation and management of a project requires a close understanding across a wide field of subjects. These include:

  • Evaluation of the technology used by different suppliers
  • Financing of the project
  • Achieving planning approval and licensing
  • Operation of the plant
  • Negotiation and management of commercial contracts with waste suppliers
  • Marketing of outputs
  • Management of risks

BiogenGreenfinch has the operational experience in all these areas meaning a landowner can obtain most of the benefits of an AD plant without needing to be involved with the operation of the plant.

We are the  UK market leader in the design, build and operation of anaerobic (AD) food waste plants. Whilst anaerobic digestion can be used to process energy crops, treating food waste is a more economically attractive proposition in the UK today – because of the prevailing mix of financial incentives for renewable energy and gate fees for waste disposal.

But because a large amount of liquid biofertiliser is produced as a by-product the best place to locate such plants can be on or close to large areas of arable land.  This is both very cost effective and very environmentally sound because all the food waste is either converted to renewable energy or returned to the land for beneficial use.

One of our AD plants located on your land would provide a valuable rental income.  The biofertiliser spread to your land or adjacent land provides either a further income stream or a significant cost saving (from avoided costs of conventional fertiliser).

The multiple environmental and economic benefits of AD are recognised by the NFU.
