Farming vision
In developing a farm based application of Anaerobic Digestion (AD), BIOGEN recognised an opportunity to follow its vision of managing, supporting and growing businesses in a sustainable, environmentally sound and responsible manner.
BIOGEN draws upon its understanding and affinity with land, property and the environment, combining this with the use and development of new technologies to create innovative solutions that are both commercially viable, and of benefit to the community and environment.
So when Bedfordia Farms was looking for new ways to make pig farming a viable option for the future, the exploration of Anaerobic Digestion and the development of the BIOGEN concept became a natural consideration. The benefits of generating
green heat and power from their pigs were obvious; and when the additional benefits of the high quality bio-fertiliser were added with its improved performance and cost savings compared to importing fossil-fuel derived fertilisers it became both an environmentally responsible and commercially desirable
solution for the farming operation.
BIOGEN was also aware of the growing need for companies and local authorities to meet its regulatory and social responsibilities by finding more eco-friendly ways to dispose of their wastes, especially food-chain-waste and liquids.
There was clearly a great opportunity for providing the farm-based AD facilities on a larger and more encompassing scale to include the recycling of food chain waste and so the BIOGEN Integrated AD technology was developed.
