Overview

BIOGEN’s Integrated AD technology helps reduce production of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and reliance upon fossil fuels. We can also help our customers to reduce their carbon footprint and we can help reduce the environmental impact of waste in the local community.

We generate renewable energy and divert waste away from the problems of landfill by means of a contained process that avoids uncontrolled emissions and pollution. By integrating our AD plant with our own livestock facility we also reduce emissions from animal slurry. As a result, BIOGEN is making a significant contribution to reducing the amount of methane entering the environment – and methane is 22 times more damaging to the environment than CO2.

BIOGEN’s plants are helping the UK government and local authorities meet their targets on waste recycling and diversion from landfill, renewable energy generation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

In local communities we provide waste producers with a local recycling solution in accordance with the Proximity Principle and we are helping farmers to improve land management by reducing leaching and the risks of pollution from nitrates and untreated wastes.
