Overview
BIOGEN was established in 2005 to develop a new farm based application of Anaerobic Digestion (AD). This innovative application of AD technology is based on farmland, is integrated with the operations of the farm and produces renewable energy from the recycling of food chain waste.
Our pioneering Twinwoods AD plant, a full scale commercial 42,000 tonne plant that has been in operation since 2005, operates in harmony with the farming environment, in co-operation with sister company Bedfordia Farms. The system is a ‘closed loop’ - slurry from the pig farm is pumped directly into the AD unit and bio-fertiliser from the AD unit is put directly onto the arable land.
Based on this proven model, we have designed a Second Generation (2G) plant. We are now working on the roll-out of these 2G plants in partnerships with other farmers and landowners throughout the UK.
BIOGEN is part of the Bedfordia Group and is based in Milton Ernest, Bedfordshire. Our rapidly expanding team combine extensive experience and expertise with specialist knowledge of agricultural and environmental issues.
The company shares Bedfordia Group's affinity with the land and the environment, as well as its commitment to use emerging technologies to create innovative solutions that will be of benefit to the local community and the global environment.
